The Strath Haven High School Boys Lacrosse program includes JV and Varsity teams and draws student-athletes from the Township of Nether Providence and the Boroughs of Rose Valley, Rutledge and Swarthmore. With a combined roster of nearly 50 student-athletes, Strath Haven plays in the highly competitive PIAA Central League which includes 2016 PIAA Boys Lacrosse state champion Springfield, 2015 PIAA Boys Lacrosse state champion Radnor High School, 2014 state champion Penncrest High School and three-time state champion Conestoga High School.

Strath Haven High School is located at 200 S. Providence Road, Wallingford, PA 19086-6333. The JV and Varsity boys lacrosse teams play their games on Mesa Field (grass) at Strath Haven High School and on King Field (artificial turf) which is located just across the street from Strath Haven High School behind Strath Haven Middle School.

Strath Haven High School Lacrosse Coaching Staff

For information about our coaching staff, see the bio's below.

Jef Hewlings enters his 5th season as Head Coach of the Strath Haven Boys' Lacrosse program, where in 2016 he and his staff led the Panthers to its best season in program history (19-7 overall, Central League Championship, PIAA state semifinals, and LP 5th ranked team in District I).

His head coaching career began back at Malvern Prep in the early 1980's, followed by stints at Penncrest High School (1989-99), Oneonta HS (NY), where he founded the high school program in 2000 and led it for its first 7 years, Hartwick College (2003-07), and Emmaus High School (2008-11). Along the way, Coach Hewlings' teams won Central League titles (with Penncrest in 1996 and 1998), Lehigh Valley Conference titles (with Emmaus, 2008 - 2011), and participated in post-season playoffs (at Malvern, Penncrest, and Emmaus, as well as each of the past 4 seasons at Strath Haven). His Penncrest teams advanced to the PSLA state semifinals in both 1998 and 1999, and Emmaus reached the PIAA quarterfinal round in both 2009 and 2010.

Now in his 37th year of coaching high school lacrosse, Coach Hewlings is excited to be a part of the growth and maturation of the Strath Haven HS program. He adds: "The continuing development of our youth program and the growing buzz in the Wallingford-Swarthmore lacrosse community that surrounds our high school program confirms the commitment made by our lacrosse families to build and support a championship program, both on and off the field."

Scott Berkheimer enters his 5th season as Assistant Coach / Defensive Coordinator at Strath Haven High School after coaching at Ridley High School the previous three years. Coach Berkheimer played collegiately at Penn State and Stockton College where he was a 3-time Knickerbocker Conference 1st Team selection, a 3-time ECAC-Metro 1st Team All Star, as well as a USILA D3 All-American selection in 2005. He was a member of Ridley's '97 and '98 PSLA state championship teams and captained their '99 PSLA state title runner-up team.

Donald Clemons starts his third season with the Strath Haven HS staff following a successful playing career at DeSales University. Don was a 4-year starter on defense (and 2-year team captain) at DeSales. After graduation, he began coaching at Parkland High School, where in 2012 he led the JV squad to a 15-0 record; he also served as a varsity assistant while at Parkland HS.

Cory Dawes joined the Strath Haven coaching staff as an Assistant Coach working with the team's goalies in 2014. A 2-time PA state champion as a player at Ridley, Cory's focus with the Panthers is coaching the team's goalies. Before joining the Haven staff, Cory enjoyed success coaching at the youth level. He is married to Jill and they are parents to Camille.

Coach McGraw is a well-established part of the Strath Haven lacrosse community, having coached with Haven Youth lacrosse (for 8 years) and our high school program (for the past 10 years). He served as a coach of the Delaware County squad that captured gold at the 2004 Keystone Games and has also coached club lacrosse for Premier Lacrosse Club, USTC Falcons Club and assorted Haven Club teams.

Coach Donaghy is 1998 graduate of Swarthmore College, where he served as a team captain (and the program's leading scorer) in his senior year. He played for the Scotland National Team in the European Championships (1999-2001) and, prior to joining the SHHS program in 2016, coached high school lacrosse for 10 years (in Delaware and Minnesota). He currently serves as a Board member of the Haven Youth Lacrosse program.

Store: Open Until 10/30/16

Please see the link below to access our 2016 Wave One SH Lacrosse team apparel store. As in past years, we ask all SHHS players to commit to the practice package (5 items, sold together or separately) and encourage our lacrosse families to "gear up" for the 2017 spring season.

Some of the apparel does accept a player number - for those entering into our spring program who do not yet have an assigned SHHS team number, let me know and I will send you available numbers from which to choose (these are available on a first come, first assigned basis for our incoming players).

Any questions regarding the team store can be directed to Asst. Coach Scott Berkheimer at [email protected]

Please note that the store will close at midnight on 10/30.
